The JSIA is a national organization which consists of district Scientific Instruments Association established in 10 districts across Japan. The number of member firms, which compose these district associations, exceeded 1,000 by March, 2014. Approximately 20% of these members are engaged in manufacturing businesses, 20% in the sales and manufacturing businesses, and 60% fall in the sales business category. As you can see from the above figures, coverage of both manufacturing and sales businesses provides this cooperative organization with a distinct advantage.

JSIA supports and coordinates the activities of district associations, and its primary purpose is to enhance the development of its member firms and contribute to the development of science and technology. It also aims at upgrading the social status of the industry and implementing national policies concerning scientific instruments.
